Mystic Knights Coming Soon…

Despite some recent difficulties, my newest work is ready to go into the final draft. Mystic Knights is a story about what our world may be like if, one day, it where to be literally overrun by nightmares. Unfortunately for the nightmares, however, dreams really do come true:

The Exile of Cronus

My second published work, The Exile of Cronus begins in the court of the Atlantean King Uranus:

“You dare,” he spluttered, “You dare pretend to better the life’s work of the High King, the Titan of Atlantis,”
“My Lord,” Cronus protested, “I am but an amateur compared to your life-long studies. If you had not provided me with such an excellent basis with your own research, I would never have achieved the least of successes. You find yourself preoccupied with your tasks, and rightly so, but had you continued your research you might have been able to achieve that which you sought for so long. I merely took another step along that long path, in the hopes that, someday, your great work would be completed and, you might be freed from this terrible fate to live a true eternal life.”
“I am quite content with my lot,” the High King snarled, “I have been granted perpetual life to fulfil my stewardship of these great lands, by powers greater than you can possibly comprehend; and if, by all that is holy, I am bound to fulfil that existence in a halflife, so be it. It is not given to you to tamper with that mandate.”
“My apologies, my Lord,” Cronus replied simply, “But I felt unable to countenance the perpetuation of such a dire curse against your august self, if there were even the tiniest possibility that I might manage to abate that horror.”
“Such was not your given due,” the Titan sniffed, “Nonetheless, I grant it to you.”
Though Cronus was aged, his wits were not yet greatly dulled, and years of paying court to the High King’s halls had taught him a thing or two about others.

After being cursed and exiled by the High King, Cronus journeys into the Lands Beyond, were he is soon joined by his family. They try to make themselves comfortable, and even enjoy friendly contact with the local Nomads. However, though distant, they are not unaffected by the Titan’s slide from nobility…

The Aubrey Stalking Portal

My earliest published work, The Aubrey Stalking Portal begins in a small pub beside the Norfolk Broads, and our main character meeting with a rather ominous prophecy:

“It will happen soon.” she hissed.
Jack Aubrey was in the Horse’s Head with an empty glass in one hand, wondering what had happened to the rest of the Horse and whether or not he should get totally plastered or call it a night. He was not enjoying the company (or rather, annoyance) of the strange woman who refused to shut up.
Since it wasn’t one of his given options, Jack decided to humour her.
“What will?” he asked.
“The portal.”
“Well, I’m headed for the door soon, so you’re right there.”
The woman spat a hissing snarl at Jack, and he wiped his face.
“Wrong portal, fool!” she added, “The portal leads beyond our world, leads to a place of solitude. Soon, very soon, you will be alone. And you will wish you had listened to me this day!”
With a final hiss at the drippy Jack, the woman abruptly departed.
Jack sighed. Why do the drunken fools tend to frequent the pub?

Jack Aubrey is a travelling herbalist who lives and works on and around the Norfolk Broads. Unfortunately for him, that prophecy is entirely accurate – shortly thereafter, he gets pulled through a mystical portal to a new and rather under populated island. The Aubrey Stalking Portal follows Jack over the next few years as he comes to terms with his new life and eventually settles down to build himself a comfortable existence.

Unfortunately for Jack Aubrey, this new world is somewhat stranger than it initially appears; and he is not quite as alone as thinks.

A. K. Moonfire

That’s me, in case you were wondering.

I am an self published author of Science Fiction and Fantasy books, and this website should hopefully allow me to reach more people. I will be posting short synopsis of my current books, shortly, and follow them with hopeful snippets of future projects in various states of completion.

That said, I am not one who churns out massive amounts of content, so do not expect daily updates on my progress. Rest assured, however, that I will not let this die.
